Stuart Andrews, PhD

Dr. Andrews is a Harvard-trained Clinical Psychologist who provides psychotherapy, supervision, and training. He specializes in Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP) for individual and couples. He is certified as a teacher and supervisor by the International Experiential Dynamic Therapy Association (IEDTA). He is an adjunct faculty at George Mason University, where he teaches psychotherapy and provides clinical supervision.

Dr. Andrews worked as a Clinical Instructor in Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, where he taught psychology interns and fourth-year psychiatry residents at the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital/Harvard Medical School. As the Assistant Director of the Program for Psychotherapy Research at Harvard’s Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, he researched and wrote about experiential dynamic psychotherapy. He has authored numerous articles on psychotherapy, psychotherapy integration, and psychotherapy research, as well as a book, Treating Affect Phobia: A Treatment Manual for Short-term Dynamic Psychotherapy (Guilford Press, 2003).

Dr. Andrews completed his pre- and post-doctoral training at Cambridge Health Alliance/Harvard Medical School. He was a Psychology Fellow at the Program for Psychotherapy at Cambridge Health Alliance. He also completed a fellowship in forensic psychology at Tufts New England Medical School, as well as a fellowship in behavioral medicine at Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates.
